Veterans have a longstanding history with Florida State. In fact, in 1947, as large numbers of World War II veterans pursued college degrees through the GI Bill of that era, veteran educational demand prompted the Florida legislature to convert the Florida State College for Women to coeducational Florida State University. In other words, veterans were instrumental to the founding of our distinguished university!
