Erwin and Stefanie Jackson’s gift of $1 million will support The Brian Jackson Dystonia Research and Discovery Program at the Center for Brain Repair in the College of Medicine.

Florida Hospital Gift to Support College of Medicine’s Orlando Campus Posted March 27, 2013 Florida Hospital recently announced a $2 million gift to support the Florida State University College of Medicine’s educational program in Orlando. The gift will establish the Florida Hospital Endowed Fund for Medical Education to help the College of Medicine support its faculty of more than 550 experienced physicians from the Orlando medical community.

Diez-Arguelles Gives Additional $100,000 to Florida State Law School Posted March 11, 2013 Florida State University College of Law alumnus Carlos Diez-Arguelles ('85) has pledged an additional $100,000 to the law school to be divided equally between the existing Carlos R. Diez-Arguelles Endowed Scholarship and the Alumni Centennial Chair.
Hirsch Gift Supports Holocaust Research Posted March 7, 2013 Sol M. Hirsch ('76), and his wife, Beverly J. Hirsch, recently established the Sol and Beverly Hirsch Endowment. The endowment will provide scholarships for master’s and doctoral students pursuing degrees in library and information studies to encourage their research on the Holocaust (Shoah), its aftermath and its impact on Jewish life and culture.
Alumna Who Blazed a Trail is Now Clearing a Path Posted March 5, 2013 An alumna who blazed a trail at Florida State University is now clearing a path for needy students. Maxine Thurston-Fischer, Ph.D., and her husband, Kenneth C. Fischer, M.D., recently included a $2 million gift in their estate plans—$1.6 million to provide support to first-generation, low-income students engaged in the Center for Academic Retention and Enhancement (CARE) and $400,000 to provide scholarships to needy students enrolled in the College of Social Work.
Priest Faithfully Honors Her Late Husband Posted February 27, 2013 Gloria Priest has faithfully honored the memory of her late husband, John F. Priest, with generous gifts to Florida State University. Over the course of a decade, Gloria Priest’s contributions to Florida State include the establishment of four funds within the Department of Religion, where John Priest was a professor for 28 years.
Tallahassee Memorial Collaborating on Research Posted February 26, 2013 Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare Foundation recently pledged $100,000 to establish the Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare Center for Research and Evidence-Based Practice Endowed Fund at Florida State University’s College of Nursing.
Frost Gives $1 Million to College of Law Posted February 20, 2013 Florida State University College of Law alumnus John W. Frost II (’69) has committed an additional $1 million gift to the law school to supplement two existing endowments. Sixty percent of the gift will supplement the John W. Frost II Moot Court Endowment and 40 percent will supplement the John W. and Ashley E. Frost Endowed Professorship.
Koeglers Continue Support of Law School Posted February 11, 2013 Florida State University College of Law alumnus Steven C. Koegler ('70) and his wife, Blanche Koegler, have gifted $250,000 to the law school. The gift will create the Steve and Blanche Koegler Professorship in Business Law.
Knight Foundation Grant to Support Garnet and Gold Scholar Society Posted February 4, 2013 Michelle Avaroma believed that Florida State University could help turn her love for working in her community into both her passion and vocation — and it has, thanks in large part to the Garnet and Gold Scholar Society, a program that recently received a $250,000 grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.

Winchester has given $50,000 to establish the John W. and Ellen M. Winchester Fund for Excellence in Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Geochemistry in the Department of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences.
