Facility Gifts
More than just the grass, bleachers, brick and mortar - our athletic facilities are home. They are home to our student athletes - providing a place for them to eat, sleep, train, and compete. They are home to the thousands of Seminole fans that return to campus to cheer our teams to victory.
"I swim at the best facility in the country every day thanks to donors whose gifts help build the Morcom Aquatics Center.” Stephanie Sarandos, Swimming
Thanks to the generous donations of many Seminole Boosters, over the past decade we have funded substantial improvements for many facilities, including: Morcom Aquatics Center, McIntosh Track and Field Building, the indoor tennis facility and more.
Construction is underway for the new athletics dorm and the Albert J. Dunlap Athletic Training Facility. Future facility improvements include renovations to both the Donald L. Tucker Center and Doak Campbell Stadium.
Private funds are essential to the realization of these goals as no state or university funding can be used for athletic facilities.
For information about how you can contribute to facilities, please call (850) 644-3484 or email seminoleboosters@fsu.edu.

Dick Howser Stadium is one of the top collegiate baseball facilities in the country after a two- year, $12 million dollar project was completed in 2004. It is located on the campus of Florida State University and has provided over two million fans with the feeling of having “the best seat in the house” to watch college baseball. On April 2, 2005 Florida State University dedicated the field at Dick Howser to current head coach Mike Martin. The Griffin Family Clubhouse and locker room are currently located behind the Seminole dugout. The locker room contains a personalized wooden locker for each player, a separate locker room for the Seminole coaches and trainers, and a video area where FSU players and coaches can watch film.
The coaches’ offices are also located in Dick Howser and look over the stadium from behind home plate. During the two-year construction process additional seats were added to increase capacity to 6,700. The playing surface dimensions measure 320 feet to right field, 400 feet to center and 340 feet to left. Prior to the 1986 season, a screen was added to the top of the right field wall, increasing in five-foot increments from 20 feet in the power alley to 30 feet in right field -- giving a unique effect.

There are three different areas in the Civic Center combined under one roof. FSU hosts its home games in the main area, which is also the center for hockey league contests, arena football, as well as some of the nation’s top musical concerts, and even a circus. The Exhibition Hall, which joins the main arena via a spatial hallway, can seat 5,000 for an event or serve as an indoor display area. The complex also features a terrace, which is popular for outdoor hosting. The Florida State Basketball Training Center is one of the nation’s top basketball-only facilities. The $10 million facility has been home to the Seminole men’s and women’s basketball programs since April of 2002.
The Florida State Department of Athletics owns the 40,000 square foot practice area and office space that is attached to the Donald L. Tucker Center. It serves as the permanent home for the Seminoles to practice, hold meetings, and watch film. The Seminoles are equipped with their own practice floor, locker rooms, coaches’ offices, meeting and film rooms, and expansive player’s lounge, a tradition room, and offices for support staff.

JoAnne Graf Field at the Seminole Softball Complex provides Florida State softball players with an all-inclusive complex that includes locker rooms, meeting rooms, and one of the best playing surfaces anywhere in the country. JoAnne Graf Field has hosted back-to-back NCAA Regionals in 2001 and 2002 and again in 2004. The facility, which is also home to the Seminole soccer stadium, was completed in 1999 and includes ticket and concessions buildings and spacious press boxes with radio/television booths. The two-level Mary Ann Stiles & Barry Smith Team Building features a reception area, softball and soccer coaches offices, which overlook their respective stadiums, a combined workroom, large team and coaches locker rooms and training and equipment rooms. On April 2, 2005, university president Dr. T.K. Wetherell and former Athletics Director, Dave Hart, officially renamed the softball stadium "JoAnne Graf Field at the Seminole Softball Complex." In the fall of 2006, the stadium got a facelift as a Florida State unveiled a brand new video scoreboard for the 2007 season. The board uses the same technology that is used at most outdoor professional stadiums. The ProStar is capable of displaying video clips, live video, animation, player headshots, graphics and statistics in 4.3 trillion colors.

Tully Gymnasium is home to Florida State volleyball. The facility was constructed in 1956 and named after the late Robert Henry (Bobby) Tully, a 1952 FSU graduate and football player. With a capacity of 1,162, the gymnasium has undergone several renovations. Prior to the 2004 season, the playing floor was replaced with a new state-of-the-art Nike Shox floor and prior to the 1999 season new lighting was added. Tully Gymnasium features new arena-style padded seating with armrests which were installed to create a more comfortable atmosphere for Seminole fans. On November 2, 2000 in a special ceremony, Florida State dedicated the floor of Tully Gymnasium to Lucy McDaniel, the first woman in the state of Florida to donate more than one million dollars to a women's athletic program. The facility became known as the Lucy McDaniel Volleyball Court at Tully Gymnasium prior to the 2001 season, in honor of the wonderful gifts and support that McDaniel has provided to the Lady Seminole volleyball program and Florida State athletics.

With the first stage of construction completed in the summer of 1993, the Scott Speicher Tennis Center at the Donald Loucks Courts opened its gates to the public for the first time at a Children's Miracle Network charity tournament. The facility cost $1.2 million to build and another $800,000 for recent additions. The Speicher Tennis Center houses 12 lighted hard courts, over 1,000 court level seats, coaching offices, men’s and women’s locker rooms, equipment and storage rooms, a team lounge and public address system. Just after its opening in 1994 the United States Tennis Association (USTA) awarded the structure with its “Top Notch” facility award. Through its 18 year existence, the Scott Speicher Tennis Center at the Donald Loucks Courts has served as the home courts for all Florida State men's and women's home dual matches, the annual Seminole Fall Classics, City of Tallahassee tennis championships, various USTA regional and zonal tournaments, the 1994 and 1995 Men's Intercollegiate tournament and the annual Children's Miracle Network Charity Invitational benefiting Shands Hospital in Gainesville. The tennis center has also been the site for the ITA Summer Circuit for men's and women's tennis in which high school and collegiate athletes participate in singles and double matches.
The multimillion dollar indoor practice facility was completed in the Spring of 2011 and serves as both a site for training and competition for the Florida State tennis teams. The facility hosts six regulation courts, locker rooms, athletic training room, equipment room, office, and lobby. This practice facility provides both Seminole Tennis teams with the tools to host both regional and national championships. Plans are in place to add spectator seating, team lounges, extended locker rooms, offices and a press box. The Multi-Purpose Educational Facility is used for academic classes, clinics and camps. It is the only indoor tennis facility approved for college competition in the state of Florida and only one of a few in the southeast.
