The FSU Alumni Association is guided by an active 36-member National Board of Directors, which ensures the success of the organization through strategic planning and oversight. The directors, who bring expertise from a variety of pertinent industries, share a passion for Florida State and a deep-seated desire to represent the university as alumni ambassadors in their communities.

The FSU Alumni Association proudly welcomes the following new members to its National Board of Directors:

Samuel Ambrose

B.S. ’91, M.S. ’92
Plantation, Fla.
Vice President of Marketing and Operations, Positive ID Corporation

Ambrose attributes much of his professional success to the leadership skills that he learned both as a student at FSU and as an advisor for the Student Alumni Foundation. Ambrose was instrumental in converting the organization into the current Student Alumni Association, paving the way for it to become one of the premier student groups on campus.

James Bloomfield

B.S. ’96
Raleigh, N.C.
District Sales Manager, Galderma Laboratories

Bloomfield prepared for his successful career as a high-performing pharmaceutical sales manager at FSU. He has remained connected to his alma mater through involvement with the Triangle Seminole Club, which significantly increased its membership and improved its financial position under his tenure as president. He also serves as a member of the Seminole Boosters Inner Council.

Flecia Braswell

B.S. ’86
Tallahassee, Fla.

Braswell, a skilled marketing professional, shares a long history with The Florida State University. Her Seminole story began when her great-grandmother attended the Seminary West of the Suwannee and continued as she, her mother and sister received degrees from FSU.

John Doughney IV

B.S. ’02, B.S. ’02, M.S. ’03
Atlanta, Ga.
Senior Manager, Connections Planning & Investments, Coca-Cola

Doughney credits FSU with preparing him to take on challenging leadership roles and diverse business opportunities. His experiences with the Student Alumni Association and the Homecoming Steering Committee provided him with an understanding of the valuable role that the Alumni Association plays in the university experience for graduates and students alike.

Marion Taormina Hargett

B.S. ’93
Ridgefield, Conn.
Vice President of Olympics and Sports Sales, NBC Universal

While Hargett helps brands achieve their goals through advertising during major sporting events like the Olympics and Super Bowl, she has maintained a passion for promoting FSU on the local level. A past president of her area’s Seminole Club, she looks forward to continuing her commitment to Florida State through her new role on the National Board of Directors.

Betty Lou Joanos

B.S. ’57, Ph.D. ’85 Tallahassee, Fla.

As chair of the FSU Emeritus Alumni Society Board of Directors, Joanos — the first person to have presided over both the National Board of Directors and the Emeritus Alumni Society — is responsible for engaging alumni who graduated 50 or more years ago. She has received many honors for her years of service to Florida State, which include serving as the associate director of the Alumni Association for 13 years prior to her retirement in 2003.

Lynch, a three-time past president of the Charlotte Seminole Club, was recently named one of The Best Lawyers in America in real estate law by Woodward/White.
