LTjg Michael Di Prospero, USN, in Kabul, Afghanistan

Lieutenant junior grade (LTjg) Michael Di Prospero was born and raised in Orlando, Florida. He attended The Florida State University from 2001-2005, and received his BA in Criminal Justice. He was then commissioned in the US Navy in 2005.

He volunteered to go to Afghanistan and is currently stationed in Kabul, Afghanistan. LTjg Di Prospero is in charge of a humanitarian operation that provides aid to displaced Afghan people in war torn areas or ones that have been victims to natural disasters.

This picture is of LTjg Michael Di Prospero with a painting of Chief Osceola and Renegade. What's interesting is this is the work of a 13 year old Afghan boy who lives in Kabul. He supports his family by his skills in painting and drawing. LTjg Di Prospero showed him a picture of Chief Osceola and Renegade and asked him if he could paint it. With a big smile across his face he said he could paint LTjg Di Prospero a masterpiece. And that he did! His painting talents are incredible. LTjg Michael Di Prospero has this painting hung up in his b-hut (room) and he explains that every time he looks at the painting, it reminds him of the unconquered spirit of the Seminole faithful.

Being 8 and 1/2 hours ahead of Eastern Time, LTjg Di Prospero usually has to wake up at 3 in the morning to watch the games streaming online on Slingbox. He says, "Even though we are having a rough season, I'm cheering my head off each game and wearing my FSU gear proudly. My fellow roommates think I'm crazy!"

When LTjg Michael Di Prospero submitted this photo he wrote, "Well I thought I'd submit a picture and caption and see what happens. Hope all is well in Tallahassee! God bless and support our troops!"

We support you and all our troops over seas. Thank you for your hard work and dedication, and thank you for bringing Florida State's unconquered Seminole spirit around the world!

Mark Supple at the Yasur Volcano

Mark Supple, FSU grad with a BS in International Business '81, wearing his Garnet and Gold in one of the farthest places from The Florida State University. This photo was taken on July 4, 2009 at the Yasur Volcano, which is one of the world's most active volcanoes. It is located between Fiji and Australia in Vanuatu. Mark explains that he wanted to see fireworks on the 4th of July, and he got to see them when the volcano erupted. He was in Vanuatu on an investigation for the Peace Corps.

Mark Supple was a Delta Tau Delta and in the FSU Circus and is now an active member of the FSU Alumni Seminole Club in Baltimore.

The Nolemobile

Carla Dear Conrad received her BS in International Affairs in 1980 at the Florida State University Republic of Panama Branch. In April & June of 2009 she and her husband, Wolfgang, visited our nation's Western National Parks in their Sprinter camper/van, aka "The Nolemobile." They were happy to be frequently approached by friendly fellow Florida State alumni traveling along the way.

Alicia & Marcus Hopkins on Their Wedding Day in St. Maarten

Marcus Hopkins was born and raised a die hard Seminole fan. He and many of his family members attended Florida State. He and his new bride, Alicia, only found it fitting to cheer on the Seminoles at their May wedding in St. Maarten.

Thank you Marcus and Alicia for making Florida State part of your big day!

1LT Tobin Rader in Baghdad, Iraq

Tobin Rader was born and raised in the Sarasota/Bradenton, Florida area and attended Florida State from 1992-1996. He received his B.S. in Food and Nutrition Sciences from Florida State and his MBA from the University of Phoenix. He then joined the U.S. Army and in February 2009 was promoted to First Lieutenant.

"While serving in Baghdad, I have been able to explore a little bit of the country (very securely, of course) and its people and culture. I brought my FSU flag to wave during football season. Only problem, the live broadcasts of the games are in the middle of the night over here. I was a tired Soldier after every game but I am a die hard fan and huge supporter of my Alma Mater." — 1LT Tobin A. Rader
