Intramural Sports
SAA participates in all intramural sports. If you are interested in playing for an SAA team, please email fsustudentalumniassociation@gmail.com with your name and the sport in which you would like to participate in. You can also join the Facebook group SAA IM Teams where you can check out details on upcoming games. It is a great opportunity to have some fun with your fellow SAA members.
Homecoming Parade and Chief & Princess Elections
The Student Alumni Association and the FSU Alumni Association host the Homecoming Parade and Chief & Princess Elections together every year. As a member of SAA you have the opportunity to help put the parade together and even be in the parade! The Parade takes place the Friday of Homecoming week and is the perfect way to get excited for Saturday’s Homecoming game.
Homecoming Chief & Princess Elections are also hosted by the Student Alumni Association. The Homecoming Court is selected based on each individual’s application and interview, and is comprised of six female and six male students. All senior and graduate students with a GPA above a 3.0 are encouraged to apply.
Opportunities to Network with the Alumni Association
The Student Alumni Association works closely with the FSU Alumni Association to host several events throughout the year. During many of these events SAA members have the chance to network with prominent alumni and FSU faculty. Below are examples of recent events in which SAA members have been involved:
• President’s Skybox during home football games • President’s Tailgate and other events • Alumni Association’s Friday Night Open Houses on game weekends • Homecoming Parade and Homecoming Awards Breakfast • Young Alumni Networking events
The Big Event
A tradition started at Texas A&M University 28 years ago, The Big Event serves as the official community service project event for the Florida State University Student Government. Students, faculty, and staff participate in this annual event to show their appreciation to the surrounding community by completing service projects such as yard work, window washing and painting for community organizations. Although The Big Event has become one of the largest one-day, student-run service projects in the nation, our message and our mission remains to simply say "thank you."
